On February 2, 2022, the New York Land Senate voted 43-20 to approve a new congressional map and the New York Land Assembly voted 103-45 to corroborate the map.[10] On Feb three, 2022, Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) signed the map into law.[xi] This map takes issue for New York's 2022 congressional elections.

Reactions

Post-obit the passage of the map, Hochul said: "These bills are necessary to reapportion districts and to provide certainty and clarity regarding such districts in a timely manner, allowing for efficient assistants of the electoral process."[12] Assembly Republican Leader William Barclay criticized the map, saying: "Nosotros're supposed to do it pursuant to the laws in our constitution, and clearly, I retrieve with these congressional lines, I think there is a case for a lawsuit. Ultimately, I retrieve there will be a court that will stop up cartoon these lines."[eleven]

How does redistricting in New York work? On March 14, 2012, the state legislature canonical a constitutional amendment to plant new redistricting procedures beginning in 2020.
